Dress Code
Please view the official HCPSS Policy 9210 for more information. According to the policy, "students will not wear attire that is disruptive to the school environment, that promotes illegal or harmful activities, or that could endanger the health or safety of that student or others during school hours and school-related activities." This includes:
- Pants worn low or loose which expose skin or undergarments
- Clothing that causes disruption to the school day: i.e. buttons, display bands, armbands, flags, decals or other badges or symbolic expression
- Head Gear (other than for religious or cultural purposes)
- Bare Feet
- Clothing that depicts profanity, obscenity, or the use of weapons and violence
- Clothing that promotes the use of tobacco, alcohol, drugs, or other illegal or harmful products
- Clothing depicting sexually suggestive messages
- Clothing depicting gang affiliation
- Clothing that contains language or symbols that demean an identifiable person or group, or otherwise infringe on the rights of others
- Clothing that depicts rude, disrespectful, or discourteous expressions
If any staff member feels a student is in violation of the Dress Code Policy, the student will be sent to an administrator. If the item is determined to be in violation of the dress code policy by an administrator, the student will be asked to change attire. Consequences may be issued if student fails to comply with dress code policy. The parent or guardian will be contacted.
