Thank you students for attending the January 25 graduation meeting. You can find the presentation here. Below you can find the breakdown of the information shared during the presentation. 

Graduation Window

Howard County Public School System has confirmed the window for the 2023 high school graduations as Thursday, May 18 – Thursday, June 1, 2023. No graduations will be scheduled for Thursday evening, May 25 or Friday, May 26 due to the Shavuot holiday. In addition, no graduations will be scheduled for weekend dates or Monday, May 29 for the Memorial Day holiday. Students and families will be notified when specific graduation dates are announced. This typically occurs late March/ early April. 

Cap and Gown Information

Cap and Gowns must be ordered by March 1 at this website. The cost is $45 and will increase to $50 after March 1. Orders after March 1 cannot be guaranteed delivered by graduation as the gown is a custom gown and takes 8 weeks to make. If you do not want a package, scroll down to Cap and Gown and you can order just the unit. The tassel will be included. Regalia will be delivered to the school about 2 weeks prior to graduation and other memorabilia will be delivered directly home. Cords

Cords are not handled by the graduation coordinator. Students should contact their teacher/ club advisor directly regarding information about club/ program cords. You can find a list of advisors and cord colors here. This is not an exhaustive list. 

Graduation Speaker/ Performer Auditions

If you would like to be a part of graduation, please submit your audition tape here no later than February 15.  Each speech/performance, whether by an individual or group, should be kept to 2 minutes. All audition recordings must be submitted by 7:20 am on Wednesday, February 15 in order to be considered. To determine the program, faculty evaluators will review the submissions received by the deadline, and students will be notified in March. LATE VIDEOS WILL NOT BE CONSIDERED. 

Employee Diploma Presentation

If you are a permanent employee of the Howard County Public School System in any capacity, we invite you to present your child’s diploma at Atholton High School’s 2023 Commencement Ceremony. Due to the preparation involved in the commencement ceremony, you must submit  your request here ASAP or no later than Friday, April 14, 2023.
